About Margot

Margot Escott believes that play is essential for everyone. In 1970 she became a New Games Referee and her mission to teach folks to play and laugh has continued. She has organized nationwide workshops and seminars focusing on the “Therapeutic Benefits of Humor and Play” and has authored numerous articles covering humor, geriatric concerns, and improvisational comedy.

She’s worked as a Psychotherapist for over 35 years and, for the past decade, has been using improvisational theater games and exercises in her practice and workshops, both in in-person and online.

Among those she’s trained with include Aretha Sills Jay Sukow, Laura Hall, Gary Schwartz and Rich Baker. Margot leads an ongoing online group called “Improv for Parkinson’s” and she and her troupe, The PIPPI Players, have presented multiple virtual performances.

She is a certified teacher and trainer with the Rehearsals for Growth program, who trains and prepares Therapists to apply improvisational methods to Psychotherapy.
